Business Administration & Leadership

PROGRAM OVERVIEW:

Alison College’s Business Administration and Leadership Diploma program equips students with the necessary skills and knowledge to thrive in today’s rapidly evolving business environment. The program features a comprehensive curriculum covering core business administration principles, including finance, accounting, marketing, operations management, and organizational behaviour.

Furthermore, students can enhance their leadership abilities through specialized courses that delve into leadership theories, strategies, and practices. The program emphasizes ethical leadership and social responsibility, providing students the tools to become influential leaders and decision-makers.

Upon graduation, students will be well-equipped to pursue various careers in management, marketing, finance, and human resources across multiple industries. Graduates will also be eligible to further their education in related fields, including business administration, control, or leadership.

This program has been approved by the Private Training Institutions Regulatory Unit (PTIRU) of the Ministry of Post-Secondary Education and Future Skills. This program does not lead to employment in an occupation that is regulated by a professional or occupational regulatory body.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS:

Applicants must have completed high school, GED, or BC Dogwood Diploma. They must also have completed Grade 12 or be at least 19 years old.

Applicants must meet the English language requirement. This can be shown through IELTS Academic with an overall score of 5.5 or higher, or an accepted equivalent English test score. Applicants may also meet the requirement if they completed approved education in English.

Additional documents may be required, such as government-issued ID, student handbook/policy acknowledgement, and a valid study permit for international students.

LEARNING SKILLS:

The Business Administration and Leadership courses provide students with a comprehensive understanding of all aspects of business and management while also helping them develop various additional skills. These skills include:

  • Understanding the ethical principles of leadership and recognizing the role of corporate social responsibility in supporting an organization’s business initiatives.
  • Applying accounting and financial principles to manage and operate an organization effectively.
  • Adhering to applicable Canadian statutes, regulations, and business practices while performing tasks.
  • Evaluating marketing and sales theories and techniques and implementing them to cater to a company’s requirements.
  • Developing plans for continuous personal and professional growth to enhance work performance in the business sector.
  • Participating in creating a business plan, managing projects, and formulating strategies.
  • Conducting research and presenting findings to support business decision-making.
  • Acquiring Project Management skills.
  • Assessing marketing and sales concepts and strategies and applying them to meet an organization’s needs.
  • Summarizing the principles of operations management and evaluating their influence on a company’s operations.
  • Outlining strategies used to manage risks in an organization’s business activities.

Administrative Assistant

PROGRAM OVERVIEW:

The Administrative Assistant  Program prepares the students for entry level positions in an supervised office/ administrative environment.  

Administrative assistants perform a variety of administrative duties in support of managerial and professional employers. They are employed throughout the private and public sectors.  

This program covers essential administrative functions, including time management, organization, communication skills, record keeping, and office technology utilization and more. Participants will learn how to efficiently manage administrative tasks, coordinate administrative operations and support organizational goals.

Course work is delivered through a blend of theoretical learning, practical exercises and real-world case studies.  

This program has been approved by the Private Training Institutions Regulatory Unit (PTIRU) of the Ministry of Post-Secondary Education and Future Skills. This program does not lead to employment in an occupation that is regulated by a professional or occupational regulatory body.
